Crime Scene Basics For First Responders

It’s critical for all who may need to enter a crime scene to have an awareness and understanding of the key elements of a crime scene. 

This class instruction will focus on the role of a first responder at a crime scene and how to reduce crime scene contamination.  Discussions also include legal concerns at a crime scene, the impact of the potential destruction of evidence, and how first responders can assist with an investigation.

At the end of this block of instruction, the first responder will be able to achieve the following objectives:

1. Verbally explain crime scene safety.

2. Correctly identify and understand the role of the first responders on a crime scene.

3. Orally define legal concerns at a crime scene.

4. Accurately identify signs of evidence at a crime scene.

5. Explain in writing details of a crime scene
